ATIC is a non profit organization jointly owned by the Victorian Association of Forest Industries and the New South Wales Forest Products Association. Other industry associations and groups can become shareholders, if their members are part of an ATIC certification scheme.

Nominees of the shareholders form the ATIC Governing Board, which is the organization's decision-making body. An independent Advisory Committee monitors the independence and integrity of ATIC certification schemes, in line with ISO and JAS-ANZ procedures.

Timber quality specialists QA Pty Ltd manage the schemes and carry out audits under contract.

ATIC quality programs provide independent certification that timber products are 'up to grade' and 'fit for purpose'. Timber carrying the distinctive ATIC logo is the answer for timber buyers who are looking for quality, consistency and reliability and who wish to avoid the risks associated with buying variable quality timber.

The ultimate purpose of all ATIC quality schemes is to consolidate the reputation and continued growth of the Australian timber industry as a source of reliable, high value products, by making quality a significant factor in purchasing decisions.

Not every timber producer or re-manufacturer meets the standards required for ATIC certification, however with the increasing number of producers and re-manufacturers now achieving membership, the full range of ATIC certified timber species and product types should be readily available. Any distributor, specifier, or user who is looking for the superior reliability and consistency of ATIC certified timber, should refer to our product/species supplier guide or contact ATIC for advice on suppliers of quality certified timber products.
