Wholesale timber
agents, stockists and distributors who wish to establish a market
advantage by promoting their status as suppliers of ATIC quality
certified timber products, may apply to ATIC for recognition.
Recognition shall be granted to any agent or distributor who can
demonstrate that they have established regular, on-going supply
arrangements with at least three licensed members of ATIC quality
schemes, or that ATIC certified timber comprises at least 33% of
their annual turnover by volume.
Recognised
distributors shall receive, and countersign, a letter of recognition
that defines the rights and responsibilities of both parties.
Recognised
distributors shall be identified in advertisements and promotional
materials as appropriate. Their names and contact details
shall be supplied, whenever relevant customer enquiries are received
by ATIC. Recognised distributors may receive promotional
materials from ATIC for distribution to their customers.
Recognised
distributors must actively and accurately represent and promote the
benefits of ATIC quality certified timber products. They
must have an understanding of the scope of third party product
certification, as distinct from quality systems certification and
must not claim that any organization as a whole is quality
certified. They must have an understanding of the requirements
of the scheme, and its auditing procedures and disciplines.
They must ensure that they do not misrepresent their recognised
distributor status, infer or represent that any uncertified products
they supply are ATIC certified, or claim that they are licensed
producer members of the scheme.
Recognised
distributors provide a channel for market intelligence and feedback
to representatives of the ATIC Governing Board. They should
liase with ATIC regularly, in particular to advise of opportunities
or issues which could improve the recognition and reputation of ATIC
quality schemes.
Recognised distributors must ensure that the transport, handling,
storage and delivery of ATIC quality certified timber maintains the
condition and quality of each pack, its packaging and certification
labels.
Distributors
of ATIC certified flooring products must carry out and record
moisture content tests on the Moisture Content Record supplied with
each pack. A copy of the tests must be kept on file for at
least 12 months.
Recognised
distributors must respond to customer feedback fairly and
responsibly, by implementing the Customer Feedback procedure on
behalf of the licensee.
Recognised
distributors are not entitled to re-grade or re-process any quality
certified timber, and then represent it, or sell it, as being
quality certified. Any label or packaging that infers that
such timber is quality certified must not be used.
Compliance with
these rights and responsibilities shall be audited twice annually,
by visiting the operating location of the distributor.
